Every year, dozens of volunteers drive or fly to Chino Airport to give their time to support EAA 92 at the Planes of Fame Airshow. Whether at the chapter's bratwurst booth, or transient parking, we greatly appreciate any and all volunteers. We hope you will sign-up below and help make this year's event as great as the last. To find out more about the show on May 5th and 6th, click here.
Chapter 92 will have a bratwurst and hot dog booth at the usual location in the food court. As you may have heard, the sale of bratwurst, hot dogs and the fixings is the biggest annual fundraiser event for the chapter, but success is only possible if many chapter members and friends sign-up to volunteer.
As a volunteer, you not only get to make a fulfilling contribution to EAA Chapter 92, but you also receive many benefits:
- Admittance to the airshow
- Near-in vendor/volunteer parking
- Wristband giving you flight line accessBratwursts and hot dogs
- The opportunity to hang out with like-minded, air-minded chapter volunteers
Please volunteer for as many shifts as you can. Plan on arriving at 7 AM for the morning shift which will run until 1 PM. For the afternoon shift, please arrive by 11 AM and expect to stay until 5 PM. With enough volunteers there will be ample time to take breaks to see the aircraft on display and pay undivided attention to the show in the sky.
Gary Steinke, a Chapter 92 Director, will be running an EAA 92 Information Booth at this year's airshow. We will be talking to passersbys about our chapter's Builder Center, monthly meetings, as well as recruiting pilots for our Young Eagles Events. We are also asking volunteers to bring old aviation related magazines to hand out along with our informational brochures. It does not take many people to run the booth, but as of 4/29, we are understaffed, so please do not hesitate to sign-up.
Transient Aircraft Parking
If you would like to volunteer to park transient aircraft, you should plan on arriving at 7 AM. The airport is closed to air traffic from 10:30 AM to 4:35 PM, with an intermission from 12:10 PM to 12:40 PM, when arrivals and departures are allowed. Plan on being really busy around the intermission and when the field reopens after the airshow.
Friday Booth Setup
If you can, please consider volunteering for the booth setup on Friday, May 4th. Please arrive at Base Ops (hangar A435) by 10 AM. We should be done with the heavy lifting by 3 PM when the Health Inspector and Fire Marshall are scheduled to arrive. Trucks are always needed and appreciated.
If you have any questions, please contact any of our officers or board members.
We have plenty of volunteers for the Saturday shifts. If you are looking to volunteer, please consider signing-up for Sunday.
