John will discuss the June Topic of the Month, which is "Regulatory Roadblock Reduction" – the FAA's mandate to make certification of advanced safety equipment easier. The discussion will focus on 21st Century Safety Risk Management with an emphasis on Amateur-built aircraft. We’ll get into flight testing & POH development in addition to technological advances, and what individual pilots can do to fly with confidence and at the top of their game.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
John is an FAA Safety Team Program Manager working in Long Beach, California. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate and flight instructor ratings for single‑ and multi‑engine airplanes, and has accumulated more than 10,000 hours of flight time. He has extensive Alaskan experience in seaplanes and tail wheel aircraft. He is a former FAA Accident Prevention Counselor and Designated Pilot Examiner. John served on the AOPA Air Safety Foundation staff from 1991 to 2002 where, working in video, print, and computer media, he developed seminars and safety education media for pilots.
